Martini please!
This week, I want to start with a livery design that is an indelible part of racing history: the Martini Livery! In its classic color scheme, one brand comes to mind when you think of Martini Racing: Porsche! Of course, the legendary Porsche tuner RWB also takes the opportunity to create a tribute to the iconic livery.
With beautiful details and, in my opinion, very high-quality execution, the whole thing is produced in a 1:18 scale by Solido.

Sleepy Eyes.
A design element that Ferrari often used was pop-up headlights. Especially in sports cars, it naturally makes sense to pay close attention to aerodynamics. In the important American market, the aerodynamic glass covers for headlights that Ferrari used to employ were prohibited for safety reasons. Thus, Ferraris equipped with these could not be driven in the American market. To favor aerodynamics, they resorted to a trick that had spilled over from aircraft technology to automobiles since the 1930s. However, the problem with pop-up headlights is that, when extended, they significantly worsen aerodynamics.
While this probably wasn’t a major issue in the 1970s, a second problem with this technology might be somewhat annoying today: with the headlights retracted, one unfortunately cannot flash the high beams at a slowly moving vehicle while sitting in a fast and sporty Ferrari. But in return, one drives one of the most beautiful vehicles in Ferrari’s history.

Big Sister.
The model designation 308 describes a combination of the engine displacement (3.0) and the number of cylinders (8). The visual similarity of the 308 GTB to the Dino 246 GTS (especially the side line and the rear section) is not merely coincidental. This is because the 308 is based on the chassis of the Dino and even uses the mid-engine of the Dino 308 GT (which the model designation suggests, as mentioned earlier).
Thanks to its sleek design and high performance of 227 horsepower, the 308 series quickly brought Ferrari great success and was to last for 10 years.

Salon-ready.
For the weekend, I want to share a series that this time follows no specific concept but simply showcases the beauty of one of what I consider to be the most beautiful Ferraris of all time: the 308 GTB. The extremely detailed model by Kyosho presents the successful sports car as it was introduced at the 1975 Paris Motor Show.

Villeneuve.
In this final race of the 1979 season, Villeneuve surprised and convinced everyone with his performance on a rain-soaked track, proving that the Canadian driver harbored great talent. Despite his outstanding performance at Watkins Glen, he ultimately finished second in the World Championship behind his teammate Jody Scheckter.
The driver, who competed in 66 of his 67 Formula 1 races behind the steeringwheel of a Ferrari, tragically lost his life three years later during the qualifying round for the Belgian Grand Prix, leaving behind his then eleven-year-old son Jacques, who would himself become the world champion of the premier class of motorsport fifteen years later, after a fiercely contested season against the then ‚King of Rain‘.

Rain falling from above.
The second image in the Gilles Villeneuve series is my absolute favorite. I have long wanted to make a top-down rain shot. The starting grid from above is a very well-known motif in Formula 1. For me, this model is particularly significant because Villeneuve started the race from the third position on that Sunday in 1979. Somewhat frustrated that he did not start from pole position, Villeneuve had a dream start and took the lead after the first corner. The final result underscored his strength on wet roads, as he crossed the finish line a whole 11 seconds ahead of his second-placed teammate, Scheckter.

Rain.
It ranks among the greatest challenges for racers—what am I saying, for ALL DRIVERS—to control their vehicle on wet roads. Unlike us regular drivers, Formula 1 racers face a significantly higher risk. Especially in 1979, this risk was enormous. In the history of Formula 1, only a few drivers managed to lead clearly or even dominate on wet tracks. One of these rain masters was Gilles Villeneuve, who often outclassed the rest of the field.
To honor this F1 legend, I chose one of the most impressive historical Formula models from Exoto and staged it in its wet domain. Enjoy the new rain series for this rainy spring!

Details.
What the engineers constructed with the CLK GTR/LM in just 128 days was nothing less than an impossible feat. The FIA granted an exception that allowed Mercedes to submit a competition car for GT1 series, that only needed to have 25 built (not even sold) street vehicles for homologation purposes. Hence, they had free rein and built a crazy dream around a V12 mid-engine with about 600 horsepower, and for the LM, a V8 that was primarily shorter and lighter.
The result was a super sports car that, in my view, was beautifully elegant in a way that has not been matched since.
As announced in the last post, you will now find some detail images of the equally beautiful scale model. Of course, it comes from AUTOart, but also from a time when details as usual today were not really possible. Therefore, the plastic parts are a bit coarser, yet, for me, the model loses none of its mystique.
I hope you enjoyed the series. The next series will again combine road and racetrack.

Le Mans
Despite the dominant success in the championship, it was ironically the results at the prestigious and important 24 Hours of Le Mans that were disastrous for Mercedes, as both vehicles were forced to retire due to water pump damage in laps 19 and 31. Additionally, a correction: in the last post, I referred to the vehicle as the CLK GTR, whereas this model is actually the further development, the CLK LM, whose differences primarily lie in the significantly flatter front section which allowed for the placement of openings to cool the radiator on the left and right of the front hood. These actually channeled air through ducts in the doors. This detail can be seen in the detailed images of the last post of the series.

Legend of the 90s.
Today, I’ll take you on a journey to my childhood. The dream of every motorsport fan in the late 90s was undoubtedly the Mercedes CLK GTR. Okay, maybe the Ferrari F40, McLaren F1, and of course, the Porsche GT1 were also on the dream car list of that era. However, despite its name, the CLK GTR didn’t have much in common with its road model - except for the taillights. Probably that’s precisely why this sleek machine dominated the championship in 1998, winning almost all the races. By the way, the model comes from AUTOart. But more on that in the following posts.

Melt in your mouth, not in your hands!
Red! It’s hard to believe, but in 1976, the decision was made to remove the red M&M’s from the packages because there was a discussion about the red dye used at the time. However, after protests and many requests from fans, Red was re-introduced into the colorful family in 1987, this time using beetroot as a controversy-free dye. Orange, by the way, was introduced as a replacement for Red in the same year. The only constant in this group, of course, is the ever-popular Yellow, which, with its color, also symbolizes the best-selling variety with a peanut core.
The headline? Oh yes I almost forgot: The trick basically is to cover the chocolate in sugar, so it won’t melt before eating even if its hot outside. That was the first promise of the brand which still is in place.
Now it’s time for the weekend, and I wish you all a lot of colorful fun!

Brilliant marketing.
Few companies have managed to establish mascots as successfully as Mars Wrigley with their M&M’s. Since 1954, the delicious, colorful chocolate lentils have been given arms, legs, and a face, representing the inner values of the various flavors with different fillings.
Moreover, the charismatic characters shine in commercials that always impress with a lot of humor, self-irony, and a wink. Even with the latest advertising „Meet the Family,“ M&M’s tackles the issues of inclusion and diversity with a lot of humor.
My personal favorite ever since is Orange. I absolutely love its humor and can clearly identify with its clumsiness and the cute face expression. Jada also gave it a super cool car.
Reason enough to give a little wink in this... oops, did I do that?

Successes.
Unfortunately, the hoped-for sporting successes for the 963 did not materialize in its debut year 2023. The annoying failure of number 75 in Le Mans, two third places in Portugal and Japan, as well as a third place in the manufacturers‘ overall standings led to disappointment in Stuttgart.
2024 started better with Porsche’s first overall Daytona victory since 2003 and the overall victory at the 1812-km race in Qatar.
But isn’t the popular LMDh class beloved precisely for testing technologies in the hardest way possible that will later find their way into production vehicles? So, let’s see what conclusions Porsche draws from the successes and failures of what I consider the most beautiful racing car of recent years.

Le Mans Daytona hybrid.
The prerequisites for participating in the races of the LMDh and GTP classes are a hybrid system with rear-wheel drive and the use of a specified chassis from one out of four different manufacturers. For the 963, Porsche chose the Canadian manufacturer Multimatic Motorsports.
Strongly based on the Porsche 918, the racer is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 bi-turbo engine. The car is closely developed in collaboration with Team Penske and delivers a whopping 500kW (680 hp) with a fighting weight of just under 1000 kilograms.
In terms of design, Porsche traditionally drew on elements from the 911 (the current continuous rear light) and the formerly very successful racing cars of the 1980s.

Roof Stories.
I had the privilege of watching the 100th edition of the legendary endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, live on television in 2023 from the roof of the Porsche Experience Center at the Hockenheimring. There, the frustration and disappointment over the failure of the new hopefuls from Zuffenhausen were understandably high. Nevertheless, one could grant Ferrari the legendary and well-deserved victory for the anniversary.
I tell this story because the Le Mans-driven version of the 963 was displayed on that very roof of the PEC, and at that time, I posted a story expressing my deep desire for a model car of this unbelievably beautiful vehicle.
Now, my wish has come true, and I have the opportunity to realize the concept that instantly burned itself into my memory at the sight of this colorful flatfish.
Enjoy the new Porsche 963 in 1:18 scale by Spark.

Trivia.
The new Dune adaptations were a labor of love for director Denis Villeneuve and music genius Hans Zimmer. Both turned down lucrative alternatives to work on the Dune films. However, David Lynch, the director of the 1984 adaptation, wasn’t as enthusiastic about the material at the time and wanted nothing to do with the new adaptations which clearly showed in the early movie featuring icons such as Sting. But even before Lynch, in 1970, the Chilean megalomaniac Alejandro Jodorowsky wanted to realize a 12-hour adaptation of Dune with visions from H.R. Giger and Salvador Dali. The project failed for various obvious reasons, but from today’s perspective, it would have been quite interesting, as Giger, for example, only became known through Alien nine years later.
With this little Dune trivia (and yes, it’s a rabbit hole you can sink into for days, so it’s probably best not to start looking on video platforms to see how the entire Dune universe looks), I conclude this series inspired by the great desert classics.

Sunrise.
In the early days after Shelby had presented the Cobra 260 at the New York Auto Show, it was still equipped with a foldable fabric roof. The typical side windows were also missing, and a Shelby logo had been hand-applied to the beautiful nose and rear of the road vehicle.
But not just these details, but also the unpainted aluminum finish represents one of the undoubtedly beautiful peculiarities of this model.

From RS to GT.
In 1972, the 911 RS initiated the trend of making purebred race cars road-legal for the Stuttgart-based automaker. This designation remained until 1997, when the decision was made to use a different name for the first water-cooled 911 model. Thus, not only was there a shift in technology from air to water cooling, but there was also a change in the name, signaling the transformation at Porsche.
Since the 996, these race cars have been assigned no less legendary an abbreviation: GT!
It began with the GT3, added a even more powerful GT3RS, boosted the Turbo with the GT2, and brought the legendary GT1 for track racing onto the streets.
The latest model of the 911 GT3 in the 992 generation not only continues this trend but also raises the question of whether the potential electrification of the 911 with the upcoming model update might bring new paths for the GT line as well. I am certainly very curious to see how the legendary sports models from Zuffenhausen will continue to evolve.

Shark Blue
is a color introduced for the 992. It is quite aggressive, and harks back to earlier Porsche blues like Arrow, Mexico, and Miami Blue.
Having seen a lot of Porsches in this color I believe it is a stunning color that highlights sportiness and matches the GT3 extremely well.
What do you think of the specs of this GT3 Touring?

Wolf in Touring Dress.
The GT3 is a car for the racetrack. For regular roads, it’s actually too stiff and too powerful to really make use of its strength. With its imposing rear wing, it’s also too conspicuous for, say, driving to a business meeting or to the bakery without raising mixed feelings amongst spectators. While one could use a standard GT3 in everyday life, it’s usually more convenient to opt for a different vehicle.
For those who still need this sportiness in their daily lives and prefer not to stand out too much, the Touring package was created.
However, since it’s just a slightly tamer exterior, I’ve decided to send a GT3 Touring by Minichamps to the racetrack where she really belongs.
Do you prefer the first or second edition/picture of this post?

Differences.
CMC has now decided to release numerous new 250 GTO models. Since I already own several from the first edition, I found this model here particularly fascinating. The details that distinguish this version from the others are fantastic. Not only the interesting color coordination in the interior but also the mudguards and the black windshield wipers are details that CMC always places great value on. Now, one can argue whether there really should have been 20 versions - if I haven’t miscounted - but one can be pleased that all have been meticulously equipped according to the original vehicles. Thank you for this beauty!

History.
The original vehicle is a very special vehicle that made history in several ways: as the first right-hand drive GTO, as the vehicle for which the highest bid at an auction was made at a staggering 35 million euros, and as the 250 GTO that was successfully used in Le Mans, Brands Hatch, Goodwood, the Vienne GP, and the Austrian GP. I chose the Stirling Moss signature because the vehicle was originally supposed to be driven by him at Goodwood. However, after Moss’s retirement, Innes Ireland took to the start for the “Moss/Laystall Team” instead.

New Arrival
I was waiting for the right steering GTOs for quite a while. And now it has arrived. And wow how I am thrilled by this color combination. Not only is the 250 GTO the most beautiful Ferrari of all times for me but this color is simply stunning.
Welcome to the new series of the phenomenal new 250 GTO by CMC MODELCARS.

Innovations!
The NA2 generation NSX was brimming with innovations. It was not only the first vehicle to feature an all-aluminum semi-monocoque, saving nearly 200 kg compared to steel, but it also came with an aluminum suspension, titanium connecting rods, and forged pistons, enabling an extremely high redline of 8,300 rpm. Beyond these features, which were used for the first time outside the racetrack in a production vehicle, engineers also put a lot of thought into handling and visibility. The cockpit, for instance, was inspired by the F-16 fighter jet to allow for 360-degree visibility. It is positioned quite far forward of the mid-engine to significantly improve high-speed stability. The advantages of the mid-engine design are, of course, also to be emphasized.
To tune everything to perfection, Honda employed none other than Formula 1 World Champion and legend Ayrton Senna.
Since there is much more to tell about this fascinating vehicle, I will save some additional information for another model in my collection that will find its way into my photo set in the coming months.

NSX-R!
The designation of the most legendary version of the Honda NSX, known for its lightweight design and impressive performance. Produced exclusively for the Japanese market, the R was a further development of the NA2 NSX, focusing on weight reduction and increased body rigidity, partially achieved through the extensive use of carbon fiber. This model features a 3.2-liter V6 engine that delivers 290 hp at 7,300 rpm, accelerating the Japanese supercar from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Despite the official limit of 280 hp due to an agreement among Japanese automakers, it is speculated that the actual output of the NSX-R is even higher.

New Sportscar Experimental,
or briefly NS-X, is a timeless pioneer and milestone in automotive history. Not only its futuristic and streamlined design at the time, but also all the technical innovations were meant to make the NSX a contender against established European sports car manufacturers. The automotive press went even further, calling it ‚The best sports car ever built‘ (Motor Trend 1991).
In this new series I am happy to present you the beautiful composite and Diecast model by AUTOart.

Duck Tape.
Yes, when they’re young, ducks are yellow, so you might think all that’s missing is the tape for the beautiful yellow Mark four. But fun aside, despite Carroll Shelby’s protests, Ford engineers wanted to mount the engine compartment cover at the rear instead of in the driver’s cabin for easier access to the engine.
After a series of breakdowns and problems with his GT40 MK4, this ask had proven to be a mistake when, at 9:45 a.m., the cover opened at full speed, threatening to tear off completely.
So, McLaren promptly pulled into the pits, grabbed some Duck Tape, and secured the bodywork with copious amounts of it to keep going. The effort paid off, as the team finished a respectable fourth overall.
More information on the Mark 4 will follow based on another legendary Exoto model in a future series.

Finish Line Excess.
Those who know me understand that I have a penchant for model cars with unique stories. This model is just that. Not only does the original vehicle have an intriguing and unique history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the model itself also clearly has much to tell.
Limited to just 399 units, Exoto’s Finish Line Excess version tells the story of a vehicle plagued by numerous small breakdowns and bodywork damage, struggling to hold together to finish the 24 hours.
Based on the previous year’s winner, the Mark 4 received a sleeker body, enabling it to achieve an impressive top speed of up to 320 km/h which should have its impact on this car. But more about this situation in the next post of the series.

One year later...
While in 1966 the legendary battle between Ford and Ferrari raged, with Ken Miles playing one of the main roles, New Zealander Bruce McLaren famously won with his compatriot Chris Amon in the closest finish in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In 1967, McLaren was set to compete again in a Ford GT40, only in the consistent evolution of the previous year’s winner, the Mark 4. Ironically, the tragic figure of 1966, Ken Miles, met his sad early end during a test drive with that very Mark 4.
This fantastic race car was to clinch the overall victory for Ford in 1967, driven by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt. From today onwards, I present to you another vehicle with an extremely dramatic history that happened to finish fourth in the same race: Bruce McLaren and Mark Donohue’s Number 2.
But this is not just any model, it’s the fantastic Finish Line Excess version by Exoto, limited to 399 units.

Majorette First Ever!
Majorette has once again developed a special model for the 2024 Toy Fair. Hence, this time it’s something truly extraordinary: the Majorette First Ever historical Formula car. This extremely high-quality model stands out with its stunning matte red finish paired with golden rims, silver exhausts, a little golden driver figurine and an extremely detailed livery to honor the brand’s 60th anniversary.
Even the packaging beautifully expresses the value and elegance of this special model.
Thank you very much, Majorette, for this beautiful „First Ever“ model!

Toy Fair Special Model 2024
Although the Toy Fair is already behind us, I don’t want to deprive you of this year’s special model from Solido.
It’s the RENAULT ESPACE F1, specially designed with a winter theme for the Toy Fair in Nuremberg.
The model comes in a scale of 1:43 and reflects the incredibly high quality of Solido’s 1:43 scale world, which is still relatively new.
I’m very excited to have the honor of presenting this model and wish you all much enjoyment with the series.

Lots of extras.
RUF not only provides the already mentioned lasso for the best prairie suitability but also a shovel and a RUF luggage set (which is also an additional option for the model and can be placed as desired). The rustic cowboy look is completed inside, where aged cowboy leather is paired with saddlebag patterns, reviving the charm of the Wild West.
However, under the hood, RUF-typical 3.6-liter engines with up to 650 horsepower await. Sufficient power, therefore, to chase the Mustangs beyond the prairie.

History.
The history of off-road vehicles is characterized by necessity, a spirit of adventure, and the desire for versatile vehicles capable of tackling various terrains. Today, off-road vehicles are designed not only for off-road use but also for everyday road traffic, making them popular vehicle types worldwide.
RUF remains true to its history here, building on Porsche and equipping the vehicle not only with various gimmicks but also with enough power to win off-road competitions.

Saddle your horses.
With a car like the RUF Rodeo Concept, there is, of course, the risk of not easily finding your parking spot, which, due to the off-road capabilities of the Porsche, might be in the middle of nowhere. However, the Rodeo Concept offers countless other fascinating insights. The inspiration behind it was, not surprisingly, the Texan collector and Ruf enthusiast Phillip Sarofim. Captivated by his idea, Alois Ruf also drew inspiration from the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance and Ralph Lauren’s 2011 Western Collection.
I find the lasso attached to the front on the rusty „horn“ to be a wonderful homage to rodeo sports.

In 1984,
Porsche clinched its first overall victory in the Paris Dakar Rally. In honor of this achievement, and likely due to the Tata Group holding the trademark for the name „Safari“ in many markets, the 992 Dakar was not named „Safari“ like it was originally anticipated. Although it hit the market in 2022, the anniversary seems to have been on Porsches radar.
There’s much more to share about the new Dakar, but perhaps I’ll dedicate a separate series to this off-roader on another occasion.
Next one up? Another off-road monster based on a Porsche.

Ground clearance!
The 911 Dakar builds on a long history of the Porsche 911 in rallying. One might think it’s a bad idea to take a rear-wheel-drive, even rear-heavy sports car through rough terrain, gravel tracks, and rivers. However, with its unique performance and robustness, Porsche achieved numerous significant titles in rally racing with the 911. The Dakar is intended not only to continue these successes but also to cater to the nostalgia of rally and Porsche fans, becoming a legendary new sports car for all purposes.
To cover all possible scenarios, the Dakar is already raised by 50 mm compared to its siblings with a sports suspension. If there are still difficulties with ground clearance, the suspension can be raised by an additional 30 mm at speeds up to 150 km/h. This proves helpful on both asphalt and extreme gravel tracks in the deserts and forests of the world.

Dakar Safari.
A long time ago, I already shared pictures of my now rare favorite Spark model: the 1978 Porsche 911 SC Safari in the unique version finished by Jochen Kieslich. When I saw the new Porsche Dakar in the same Martini livery, I instantly hoped that this vehicle would appear as a model exactly like that. And my dreams came true!
Of course I had to take them out into their natural habitat.
So at the beginning of the new year, I want to continue the series „Old versus New“ with these two, in my opinion, beautiful vehicles.
The old year brought many hurdles and tough times for me, so I am excited to start 2024 with a fresh mind, hunger for Modelcars, a lot of energy and I wish all of you nothing but the best, and may your hopes and wishes come true!

Carrera.
The 2.7 RS was the first Porsche that, inspired by the Carrera Panamericana, was allowed to bear the abbreviation „Carrera“ on the rear. Since then, it has become an integral part of the Porsche model range. While the latest GT3 RS does not feature the iconic lettering on the rear, it is still equally captivating.
Last year, I had the pleasure to do a photoshoot with an F-model from the same year as the 2.7 RS and a 992 Carrera. Passersby, happening upon the scene, either found the classic car or the new Porsche so much better that they showed no interest in the other model.
So I am interested to know: Do you feel the same way, or do you think both vehicles should be found in the same garage?
By the way, my upcoming posts will once again be dedicated to Porsches from various generations.

Commonalities.
Exactly 50 years separate the introduction of these two beauties. However, then as now, the RS abbreviation signifies the pinnacle of the respective current product range of the Stuttgart based sports car manufacturer.
While the original RS was a surprise success that brought new prestige to Porsche, the current GT3 RS is already a highly anticipated top-of-the-line sports car that is sold out for a long time even at the announcement day. Porsche-typical, the genes of the original are clearly recognizable and have been woven into the latest version.
I have allowed myself to compile a few visual similarities based on the models. For more on differences and commonalities, see my last post of the series following tomorrow.

Tribute.
One had to wait a long time for the first 1:18 models of the new Porsche 992 GT3 RS. Even longer, I had wondered what would be a fitting visual concept for my now rare museum model of the 911 2.7 RS. Since Porsche has now released a tribute model in collaboration with Spark, featuring the same color concept „Grand Prix White with wheels and ‚Carrera‘ side stripes in Viper Green,“ in a limited edition of 911 units, it was clear: I must pay tribute to the tribute.
By the way, the legendary original color concept is claimed by the Porsche Museum in terms of presentation. Both the 2.7 RS sneakers released last year and the AUTOart model were exclusively distributed through the Porsche Museum.
I hope you enjoy my tribute to two of my all time Porsche favorites in the most likely most sportive color combination there is!

Elegance
Maserati has always been synonymous with particularly elegant design. Even the supercars have consistently been characterized by a harmony and timelessness that some other sports car manufacturers lack. Nevertheless, the vehicles are always marked by an Italian fierceness that reveals to the connoisseur the beast lurking under the hood. This is also the case with the MC20: it is beautiful to look at, fits perfectly into any high-class sports car collection, and shows its teeth with its 630 horsepower when needed.
What I personally find particularly appealing is a rather powerful detail: the engine’s ventilation slots are designed in the shape of the trident mentioned at the beginning.
From my perspective, Klaus Busse and his design team have created a timeless beauty here, which, in contrast to some other fiery beauties, does not necessarily divide opinions but unites enthusiasts.

The model.
After some people approached me about the model, I'd like to share a brief review:
It's the limited edition of the All-Open Die-Cast model, restricted to 100 copies, in the "Grey Mistero" variant. From my perspective, the details are excellent. The paintwork is fine and flawless, replicating all interior and engine details superbly.
I also appreciate the faithfully reproduced shapes of this beautiful vehicle. In addition to the foldable side mirrors, the opening fuel cap is a detail not commonly found in new vehicle models.
The model comes on a high class light leather base with the name and limitation number in metal. Of course for this session I did remove it from this base.
Overall, it's a very well-executed model in my opinion.

One of the most ironic logos in the automotive world adorns the large fish-like front of the vehicle with which Maserati makes its comeback in the realm of super sports cars: The Maserati Corse 20 (shortened to MC20). The iconic "Trident" not only symbolizes the martial power of water but also has its origins in the "Fountain of Neptune" in Bologna, from which the Maserati family originally hails.
Unleashing an unstoppable force of nature, the V6 Biturbo engine, developed in-house by Maserati, with its 630 horsepower is more than impressive. Sufficient reasons, therefore, for me to implement a maritime concept with the beautiful MC20.

Let's talk about...
Details! And oh wow, this model has countless of them. One of my favorite details is the door locking mechanism: Exoto has seriously attached a small folding metal latch to the upper edges of the windshield, allowing you to lock the doors. But that's not all; the front and rear sections can be completely removed, revealing incredible details: fully wired instruments, a meticulously replicated engine (I read some time ago in a forum that Exoto models are even used in a museum to vividly explain the advanced construction technology of the Chaparral Type 2 vehicles), and more. Back to the doors: they are attached to the body with real metal cables. Actually, it's hard to put into words how much attention to detail is in this model. Therefore, I hope the pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy the latest post on the sensational Exoto Chaparral Type 2.

Popularity:
Although Chaparral vehicles achieved numerous successes, they actually gained widespread recognition primarily due to a variety of model cars. Attracted by their distinctive appearance, the market in the early 1970s was flooded with models.
However, the appearance was by no means meant to be provocative. On the contrary, the Type 2 won a total of 22 victories in 39 races. This was made possible mainly due to the aforementioned technical innovations. For example, the Semi-Monocoque was inspired by aviation and constructed from fiberglass-reinforced plastic. The flat aerodynamic shape was possible, of course, because the engine was positioned behind the driver.

Strange.
There are so many absurd trivia about Chaparral that I'd like to start with the obvious: Chaparral vehicles always looked fascinating, futuristic, and... different. Jim Hall and Hap Sharp, the developers of the racing car project, created numerous technically advanced innovations that have had a long-term impact on motorsports. As a result, each of the eight types built (the designations refer to the model year, 1965 2C, 1966 2D, etc.) looked like a prototype. In this case, I'm showcasing the fantastically detailed all-open-diecast-model from @exoto_official of the 1965 Type 2A, driven by Bruce Jennings at the Road America 500.
Details will follow in the upcoming posts.

A year without Sebastian.
In one week (more precisely, on November 20th), it will be a year since Sebastian Vettel started his final Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi with the beautiful AMR22. It has been a unique Formula 1 career with countless records, 122 podium finishes, 53 victories, and, of course, 4 World Championship titles.
Although Vettel entered Abu Dhabi as the driver with the most wins on this track to date, having secured three victories, he qualified in the 9th position. In the end, he crossed the finish line in 10th place, earning a final point in his last race in the premier class.
2023 has been an eventful year, but for me, it is certain that one of the great German racing drivers is sorely missed. Thank you, @sebastianvettel, for an unparalleled career with so many highlights. It has been a pleasure to watch and cheer for you.
If the rumors are true, then this is not a final farewell but rather a "Hopefully, see you soon in other racing series."

#5.
At the beginning of his racing career in karting (like his idol Michael Schumacher), Vettel drove with the number 5. After choosing the same number as a Formula 1 driver and winning his first world championship title, the number 5 became iconic. Since his initial “V” represents the number 5 in Roman numerals, so the choice is obvious. In its logo, it alludes to this fact by combining the Roman numeral with the printed 5: “V5.”

German Legend.
Today, I would like to start a small series about a Formula 1 driver who has broken countless records and competed in 299 races in the premier class of motorsports over 15 active years. He is still the youngest Formula 1 World Champion of all time, and not only that, he won the championship title four times in a row. I'm talking, of course, about Sebastian Vettel.
For the vehicle, I have chosen the car as it was equipped in the last race of the legendary German World Champion:
The Aston Martin AMR 22 #5 from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2022.

Brutal.
Especially the rear view of the FXX K Evo impresses me a lot. What is being squeezed out of these vehicles in terms of aerodynamics and performance now seems groundbreaking to me. And this even though the FXX K is already 5 years old. The fusion of motorsport, innovation, and consumer-centric orientations enriches the automotive world with all kinds of poster cars.
The Diecast model from BBR is also very well done here, although I actually find the resin version from BBR even more detailed and beautiful.
At last you will find a quick comparison between the LaFerrari engine and the FXX K Evo ones. Quite impressive what kind of details BBR works with here.
With that, I'm temporarily ending my Ferrari streak and turning my attention back to other manufacturers.

The XX Programme.
Since 2005, Ferrari has been offering a small, select group of customers various events on and off the track, calling this the „XX Programme“ which has started with the legendary Enzo-based FXX.
Ferrari uses the XX program not only to provide special experiences for its hand selected clientele with equally exceptional vehicles but also to analyze test data with the engineers and technicians present, allowing for immediate adjustments and implementations on the circuit.
With the FXX K, many insights from the program were successfully transferred into a hypercar, as the 'K' stands for KERS (kinetic energy recovery system), a brake energy recovery system well-known from Formula 1 and endurance racing.
So, it's the perfect connection for both the clients and the company.

Even more extreme!
Detached from the previous Ferrari Hypercar series, I have decided to introduce the FXX K Evo as well.
Based on the Ferrari LaFerrari, the FXX K takes it to the next level. This track-only vehicle combines a power output of a whopping 1050 PS at 9200 rpm.
The model seen here is also from BBR and showcases the FXX K Evo(lution), which boasts significantly improved aerodynamics compared to the FXX K.
To be more precise, it's the vehicle with the number 70, known as "Final World Champion 2017."

Hold your horses.
Even if one could afford the La Ferrari, which, like its two predecessors, clearly inherits its genes from Formula 1, the chance of getting one of these beautiful vehicles is relatively low. That's because the La Ferrari is strictly limited to 499 coupés which are obviously all sold, with an additional 210 Apertas planned, where number 210 was sold for 8.3 million Euro.
The model you see here from BBR is also limited to 100 units, and I am the proud owner of number 43.
To talk about horses a bit more, the La Ferrari gets a whopping 800 of them from its V12 engine, with an additional 163 horses coming from the hybrid system. Paired with a maximum RPM of 9,250 rotations per minute, it achieves the sprint from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.9 (!!!) seconds, with the speed limit only kicking in at 350 km/h.
A worthy successor to the legendary F40 and Enzo, no doubt. I'm personally very excited about the La Ferrari’s successor set to be unveiled in 2024.

The "Cavallino rampante."
When Ferrari named its flagship model „La Ferrari“, I thought I might need to delve into the meaning of the logo, or more specifically the horse within the logo. The now globally recognized and legendary Prancing Horse traces its origins back to the Italian national hero and WWI pilot Francesco Baracca. His regiment used a similar rearing horse, which Baracca promptly had painted on his aircraft.
According to legend, Baracca's mother presented Enzo Ferrari with a lapel pin bearing this very emblem to celebrate his victory in a race, inspiring Ferrari to adopt this victorious horse as his emblem.
Fun Fact: Some claim that Baracca saw the horse on a German pilot's aircraft and copied it. This pilot hailed from the city of Stuttgart, which also features the prancing horse in its coat of arms. For this reason, a similar horse adorns the emblem of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer Porsche.

I remember...
Honestly, I didn't immediately like the design of the Enzo. The car initially seemed too angular to me, and the pictures didn't do it justice. I wondered, "Is this supposed to be the successor to the F50?" However, when I saw the Enzo in person for the first time at the IAA (International Motor Show) back then, I couldn't get enough of it and fell in love instantly. The extraordinarily wide rear end with protruding taillights enchanted me so much that the Enzo remained my favorite Ferrari for a long time.
However, its successor once again set new standards in many ways. More on that in the final installment of the Ferrari Special series.

Schumacher Genes.
Like its predecessors, all the Formula 1 know-how was utilized in the development of the Ferrari Enzo. The Enzo features a monocoque made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, a sequential gearbox, and carbon-ceramic brake discs. Much like the F40, the Enzo captivated the automotive world. At its debut, the Enzo was the fastest road-legal Ferrari ever and the rarest and most expensive new car in the world.
Powered by a 660 PS (approximately 651 horsepower) V12 engine, the Enzo generates an almost unreal amount of power, launching it to 200 km/h (124 mph) in just 9.5 seconds according to tests. In fact, it doesn't stop until it reaches "over 350 km/h" (approximately 217 mph). To achieve this, the vehicle autonomously adjusts some spoilers to reduce downforce further after reaching 295 km/h (about 183 mph).

The pinnacle of engineering!
As the second car in my Ferrari Special, today I present the Ferrari Enzo. At the time, it wasn't just another Ferrari; it was the pinnacle of engineering. Not only did its appearance resemble that of a Formula 1 car, but it was also largely developed like such a racing machine.
To give you an idea of its exclusivity, I'd like to mention a few names of its exquisite contemporaries. The Enzo played in the same league, perhaps even leading it, alongside the Porsche Carrera GT, Saleen S7, McLaren F1, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, and Koenigsegg CC8S.
Despite the base price of 662,000 euros, or perhaps because of it, the initially planned production of 399 units was sold out before production even began. As a result, they decided to produce an additional 50 units.
Stay tuned for more information and details in the upcoming posts.

Exclusivity.
The Ferrari F40 was produced only 1,311 times. And it was crafted by hand! Even back then, the F40 was considered a groundbreaking supercar model, not just because of its performance (2.9-liter V8, 478 horsepower, top speed of 320 km/h), but also because of its "timeless" design and, above all, its purebred racing tuning. The interior was Spartan and equipped with only the essentials. The vehicle was focused on lightweight construction and agility.
All of this combined makes the F40 one of the pioneers of Ferrari's supercars and one of the most sought-after and well-known collector's items of the brand.

All open.
As mentioned in the introductory text, I believe that the Ferraris in this special collection are the best die-cast, all-open models of legendary Ferrari supercars currently in existence. The Kyosho F40 has even achieved legendary status and was recently reissued. Reason enough to take a closer look at the original model.
The hoods can be completely opened, and there is even a metal bracket included for the rear hatch. The details of the lights and logos are excellent, and the interior stands out with various materials and finely crafted seats with seatbelts. The front part even includes the Ferrari bag with the onboard tools. If one were to find a detail to criticize, it would be the tires, and in my case, some paint rush on the driver's door. Otherwise, it's a flawless, beautifully detailed model of one of the most beautiful Ferraris of all time.

The GOAT.
There are not many, but they exist: vehicles about which the entire automotive world is unanimous. The Ferrari F40 is undoubtedly one of such vehicles. Because no matter which automotive journalist or enthusiast you ask about their favorite car, the best car of all time, the answer is always: "Ferrari F40!"
And there's a reason for that. What Ferrari created in 1987 still stands unparalleled. It's not only one of the most exciting designed automobiles ever, but it also impresses with its purebred racing characteristics.
The first of the three Magnificent Ferraris in my special is the legendary F40, the grandfather of all supercars.

The Mercedes-AMG One: A Technological Marvel and Design Masterpiece
The AMG One is not only a masterpiece of aerodynamic design but also a technical marvel. Under the hood, it features a Formula 1-derived turbocharged engine that, in conjunction with electric motors, delivers an impressive combined output of 1,000 PS at a torque of 11,000 rpm. This car was designed to offer an almost unparalleled combination of road-legal usability and track performance, setting new standards for hypercars.
However, there are only estimated figures available for price and top speed that were not officially documented. With a production limited to 275 units and the technical superiority of the car, the introductory price is estimated to be around 2.7 million euros. The top speed is expected to be approximately 350 km/h.
In combination, this makes the AMG One one of the most exciting and highly sought-after hypercars among affluent enthusiasts.

Aufrecht, Melcher, Großaspach
The initials of these three names form one of the most well-known abbreviations in the automotive industry: AMG. While the first two are the names of the founding fathers, Großaspach refers to a small town in the south of Germany.
Founded in 1967, which is relatively recent, the tuning company quickly established itself as the exclusive tuner for Mercedes-Benz. In 1999, AMG was therefore acquired by Daimler AG and transformed into a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. While AMG has been known over the past decades for building highly modified Mercedes vehicles with impressive performance and top-quality materials, they have increasingly evolved into a manufacturer of super and hyper sports cars since their first independent development of the AMG SLS. These cars consciously and skillfully draw on the heritage of the parent brand and transition it into the world of motorsport.

The first.
Sometimes, it's just not enough to add some tuning elements to an existing vehicle. That's why AMG decided to develop a vehicle completely from scratch. What resulted is one of the most impressive supercars of recent years: The Mercedes-AMG One.
This is a supercar that bridges the gap between Formula 1 and the road. This breathtaking vehicle was developed by Mercedes-AMG in collaboration with the Formula 1 team of Mercedes-AMG Petronas, sharing many of its technological innovations with the pinnacle of motorsport's racing cars.
But more about that in the following posts.

"Japanska."
This cryptic word stands for science fiction as it originated in Japan. Japanese SF was heavily influenced by authors such as H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. This influence is also clearly visible in "Ultraman," particularly in the design of vehicles and even the monsters. The genre often reflects the unique culture, history, and society of the country. Themes such as the relationship between humans and technology, the impact of natural disasters and atomic weapons, as well as the connection to nature, are widely prevalent in Japanese SF.
It provides insights into Japanese society, technology, and philosophy and, due to its unique perspective, holds special relevance and significance. Furthermore, it has certainly inspired and influenced the SF landscape as a whole.
My tribute to this unique genre of Japan is the beautiful car that, as a symbol, has had a significant impact on the automotive industry.

The first of its kind.
The Mazda Cosmo, a legendary vehicle that first hit the market in the 1960s, was one of the first production cars to be equipped with a Wankel engine. The Wankel engine, also known as a rotary engine, differs from conventional piston engines in its unique operation.
The Wankel engine doesn't use traditional pistons to compress and combust the air-fuel mixture. Instead, it features a triangular rotor that rotates within an oval chamber. This rotational motion generates the necessary displacement and compression to produce power. The advantage of this design lies in its compact size, low vibration, and high revving nature.
In the Mazda Cosmo, a twin-rotor Wankel engine producing 110 horsepower was employed, propelling the vehicle to impressive speeds. This technology was revolutionary at the time and helped Mazda establish itself as a pioneer in rotary engine development.
The Wankel engine in the Mazda Cosmo was a milestone in the automotive industry and contributed to raising Mazda's prominence and success on the global stage. While the Cosmo is now a rare classic, its innovative engine technology is still regarded as a significant step in the history of the automotive industry.

The Monster Attack Team.
I owe the latest series to pure chance. Since I wanted to tell the story of the legendary Mazda Cosmo Sport (I'll explain why this vehicle is truly legendary in the second picture of the series), I stumbled upon this ultra rare model with a very special background. It's none other than the legendary MAT Vehicle from the iconic Japanese series "Ultraman Returns" from 1971.
MAT stands for "Monster Attack Team" and is a part of the Ultraman universe. The MAT's mission was to protect the world from Kaiju attacks. By the way, Kaiju is the Japanese term for huge or bizarre monsters, like the very famous one I've also brought on set for this series.
However various vehicles were used for the MAT's mission, including our Mazda, which could fly or be equipped with rockets depending on the task. Due to its futuristic appearance both then and now, and the significant role the vehicle played for car engineering, it fit perfectly into the set of the 1971 Science Fiction series.
Since I could hardly find any information about this model car, I'm curious if anyone might know more about it. From what I've researched, it seems that the AUTOart model was only available for purchase in Japan and had to be imported from there. I also think the helmet and weapon that come with the vehicle set are fantastic (even if my helmet is a bit dirty).

Resin.
There is often a debate about whether the trend towards resin is truly as beneficial and whether one should rather stick with traditional die-cast models. The significant advantage of resin, naturally, due to the ease of working with the material, is that you can 1. produce smaller quantities and 2. achieve much finer details. So, for those in search of highly detailed limited editions or even custom models, resin is almost unavoidable. Especially from the perspective of Ignition Models' resin model, I believe it clearly illustrates what this means: The level of detail and panel gaps that can be achieved in die-cast models at a similar price point is quite limited. The downside for many model car enthusiasts, of course, is that there are no movable parts.
But who am I to say? I'm interested in hearing how you see it.
Die-cast or resin?

Drifting.
The Trueno AE86 is considered one of the pioneering vehicles of the drifting sport. Its low weight, front engine, and rear-wheel-drive configuration make control in drifting quite easy, and the vehicle is highly maneuverable. Some may also remember the role of the Trueno in the manga series "Initial D," where the main character uses the Toyota as a tofu delivery car and, most notably, for drifting and street racing.
Thanks to its simple design, the vehicle remains a highly regarded cult car, especially in the tuning scene, to this day.

Born in the USA.
The most striking detail of the new GT3 RS is undoubtedly the massive rear wing. In addition to its sophisticated technology, I assumed that there must be an aerodynamic reason for it to be taller than the driver's cabin and, in fact, towering over the entire vehicle.
However, the reason is much simpler: In the USA, traffic regulations stipulate that a rear wing is only approved if it can withstand a lateral impact without detaching from the vehicle. This is tested in a crash test using a kind of wrecking ball that strikes the side of the car, simulating a potentially hazardous impact.
The wing of the 992 GT3 RS is now so high that during the crash test, this ball simply passes underneath it, eliminating the risk of it coming loose.
Eventually, Porsche didn't overlook this detail, and the car was approved for use in the USA.

Is there more to come?
Already with the first GT3 of the 996 generation, the question arose: 'Is it even possible to go further?' But Porsche tirelessly works to extract even more from each new generation of their legendary 'RS.' With the 991 GT3 RS, many journalists agreed that the peak of naturally aspirated engines had been reached.
However, once again, Porsche demonstrates that there is room for improvement. Of course, it's not all about the 525 horsepower 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine. The aerodynamics have been meticulously perfected, with – just to call out one thing amongst many – the massive rear wing and front diffuser adjusting automatically to the driving style. According to Porsche, every detail is maximally perfected for function.
So, one should ask once again: Has the maximum possible for road-legal sports cars been reached?
I am confident that Porsche will provide the answer.

Limited to 400 pieces!
Undoubtedly, the most coveted CMC model and one of the most sought-after 1/18 scale models of all time is the midnight blue 250 GTO in the limited Techno Classica Edition from 2016.
Although this model is limited to only 200 copies, CMC reported a veritable rush for the black version, which is limited to 400 copies, at the Classic-Gala in Schwetzingen last weekend. It has become a real speculative item.
In my opinion, it's simply a beautiful model car with fantastic details, and that's why I want to share some details with all of you.

Here it is:
This year's CMC special edition for the Classic Gala Schwetzingen limited to 400 pieces.
As in every year, CMC is once again participating in the gala in 2023, where some of the most beautiful and rarest vehicles in automotive history are displayed in the beautiful Schlosspark in Schwetzingen.
The uniqueness of the special GTO undoubtedly lies in its civilian deep black paintwork with the beautiful red interior. Almost all CMC Ferraris bear a race number or a racing history. Therefore, enthusiasts of road cars find it difficult to obtain the by far best and most detailed 250 GTO model in an attractive version for them.
Hence, this year's special edition is likely to be particularly coveted.
More pictures will follow.

Less = More.
When the first RS was introduced in 1972, no one in Zuffenhausen really expected a sales hit. The RS had only slightly more power than the S, an engine that had been expanded from 2.4 to 2.7 liters, and was fundamentally geared towards lightweight construction rather than comfort. However, the racing sports model was practically snatched from Porsche‘s hands at that time. With the 964, the emphasis on sports cars was notably more comfort-oriented. Yet, when it came to the RS, this customer preference was ignored, creating another sales success. This Spartan DNA of omission and uncompromising optimization for the racetrack proved to be a fantastic concept, one that Porsche continues to pursue up to the current model series, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is achievable.

22R = Mint Green.
The uniqueness of a Porsche 911 lies in its ability to look great in just about any color. As one of the first manufacturers, Porsche promised that the vehicle could be ordered in nearly any color. Since 1966, there have been more than 30 different colors available for these coveted sports cars. Today, approximately 100+ colors are offered for the 911 and 718 models, which can be selected through the Exclusive department in addition to the standard paint options.
Currently, the classic cult colors are especially popular, such as our Mint Green. Porsche introduced this color in the early 90s and offered it for the 964 RS, giving it an even sportier and more individual character. Today, vehicles in this color are very rare and are considered lucrative investments, although the 964 RS is already highly sought after for its value.

RS = Rennsport.
„You can have a longer breakfast. You‘ll be back for dinner earlier. Is there a better family car?“
That was the campaign Porsche used in the late 1980s to promote the third generation of the Porsche 911, the 964. I still find myself smiling when I think of this punchline. The Porsche 964 RS took this promise from the road to the racetrack. The limited-edition vehicle had been optimized in many ways for motorsport and remains one of the most coveted Porsche variants to this day. Not least because of its outstanding performance but also due to its design that recalls the era of „real“ motorsports.

Love.
I love the Countach. Mostly the LP400, but the Lamborghini Countach has personally captivated me a lot. For this reason, I am delighted to have all the model variants I could get in 1:18 scale in my collection. This special 25 Anniversario is particularly significant for me as it represents the last produced Countach, just as it is exhibited in the Museo Lamborghini, without the large rear spoiler. This understated look appeals to me, just like the current Porsche GT3 Touring, where one must be more of a connoisseur to recognize its true beastly nature. While the Countach also clearly displays the martial power it possesses (V12 with 470 hp and a top speed of 295 km/h), it still appears in a slightly more elegant outfit for me compared to the spoiler version.
If you enjoyed the series, there will certainly be a photographic comparison of the different Countach versions coming sooner or later.

– The design of the anniversary model was created by none other than Horacio Pagani, who would later go on to design his own hypercar.
– The numerous air intakes with distinctive stripes were inspired by the Ferrari Testarossa, intended to create direct competition in both looks and performance.
– Originally, the 25th Anniversary was planned to be produced in limited numbers. However, by the end of its production in 1990, this final model became one of the best-selling and most produced Countach variants (still very sought after though).
– The car featured in the iconic scene in „The Wolf of Wall Street“ where Leonardo DiCaprio crawls out of happes to be a 25th Anniversary model.

25 Years of Lamborghini
The company Automobili Lamborghini was born in 1963. Since then, the company of the legendary founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, has produced countless dream cars and poster cars that make sports car enthusiasts‘ mouths water. However, one model stands above all others, as it undoubtedly represented a turning point in sports car manufacturing: the Countach. To honor this dream car, Lamborghini decided in 1988 to build a final and more aggressive model of the flat bull: the 25th Anniversary edition. This model came with numerous visual changes and was based mostly on the 5000S in terms of technical specifications. The completely redesigned rear end was particularly striking.
The model I am presenting to you today is precisely this version in the rare AUTOart Signature Edition in Silver without a rear spoiler.

Start at the IAA 1963.
It was a significant moment in automotive history when the Porsche 911 was unveiled to the public at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main in September 1963.
Upon its introduction, the new Porsche 911 (originally designated as 901) was positively received by critics and praised as groundbreaking for sports car design. The unique styling and vehicle architecture, with the rear-mounted engine and the distinctive curvature behind the doors, made the Porsche 911 an instant eye-catcher.
After ups and downs of its parent company, the 911 has managed to establish itself and remains a prime example of combining tradition with vision.
As the 911 is turning 60 years young this year: Happy birthday and congratulations!

The International Motor Show (IAA)
Every two years, one of the most important automotive exhibitions in the world takes place in Frankfurt: the International Motor Show (IAA). While it is still considered the most significant exhibition in the industry, in recent years it has faced competition from others such as the Mondial de l‘Automobile Paris, the Tokyo Motor Show, or the Geneva Motor Show.
The model I am presenting to you today was received a long time ago from @911Scales, and the pictures have a nostalgic feel to them.
Recently, I found myself thinking about this beautiful 1:43 scale model and decided to put together a series to share with all of you.

Orange Lambo.
Lamborghini is arguably the only manufacturer of supercars that offers a wide bold range of colors for its products. Since the legendary Miura, I have been particularly drawn to the vibrant Lamborghini orange. That's why the Lambo part of my model collection mostly consists of orange vehicles (which will likely eventually result in a longer series).
Therefore, I would like to dedicate my last post to the color of the model. "Arancio Anthaeus" is a special color option available for the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Arancio is the Italian word for orange, and Anthaeus refers to a mythical giant from Greek mythology.
The color is a striking, vibrant orange with a metallic sheen that accentuates the sporty and aggressive nature of the Performante just perfect.

Performante.
The "Performante" designation for the Lamborghini Huracan represents the highest-performance version of this model. The term "Performante" originates from Italian and translates to "powerful" or "excellent," having been inherited from its successful predecessor, the Gallardo Performante.
The Lamborghini Huracan Performante was developed as an even more powerful and track-focused variant of the already impressive Huracan. It features improved aerodynamics, lightweight components, and further technical optimizations to achieve outstanding performance and handling characteristics.
And indeed, these performance figures are impressive: The engine generates a power output of 631 horsepower and a maximum torque of 600 Nm. This, combined with the advanced all-wheel-drive system, results in breathtaking acceleration, taking just 2.9 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed is electronically limited to 325 km/h, ensuring thrilling performance throughout the acceleration range.

Huracan!
I fondly recall a situation from a long time ago at the Audi factory in Ingolstadt. During a guided tour, we were traveling on a bus when suddenly I heard a deep rumbling sound. I looked out the window and caught my first glimpse of the successor to the legendary Lamborghini Gallardo: the Huracan, several months before she officially hit the roads.
I could hardly contain my excitement and my enthusiastic reaction drew the attention of the entire bus, including the stunning new bull itself.
Since then, the Huracan has captivated me, and I must say that its design still ranks among my absolute favorite sports cars. For this weekend's post, I've chosen to highlight the Performante version, beautifully showcased by AUTOart.

Lucy who?
The story behind the name »Lucybelle« is quite interesting. Jim Kimberly, an enthusiastic Ferrari collector and racing driver, purchased the Testa Rossa with the chassis nr. 0732 for Ed Hugus, which wanted to drive this specific car at the 24 hrs of Le Mans back in 1958. At that time, Kimberly was accompanied by a woman named Lucybelle Sass, whom he later married. Therefore he named the car after his beloved lady.
The nickname Lucybelle became established over time and is often used to refer to this particular vehicle. Not only Ferrari vehicles, but racing cars in general often are given individual names and nicknames from their owners to create a personal connection or emphasize their uniqueness.
Funny side fact: The car 0732 which Kimberly bought for Hugus was sold shortly before the Le Mans race, so Hugus instead had to race in another Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa with chassis number 0728 which he also named »Lucybelle«.
Hope you did enjoy the beautiful CMC Ferrari.
Next post will also be Italian, but a couple of decades later.

The name "Testa Rossa"
means "red head" in Italian, referring to the distinctive red valve covers of the engine. These vehicles are extremely rare and coveted, often fetching record prices at auctions.
The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa has a long and successful history in motorsport, including winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1958, 1960, and 1961. Only 22 examples of the 250 Testa Rossa were produced in total, adding to its exclusivity and collector value.

Back.
After a longer break, which was due to a very draining and mentally turbulent personal situation, I am now excited to restart with one of my favorite models from CMC.
After CMC already recreated the legendary American Le Mans Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa from 1958 based on the current condition of the vehicle with the model M-080, they introduced the M-086 version upon customer request. My model is precisely this new limited edition version, restricted to 2,000 units, which replicates the racing specifications of 1958. The model is easily recognizable by the two additional headlights in the radiator grille.
I want to present this model because the pictures hardly do justice to how delicate, intricate, and exquisite it feels. In my opinion, this particular model is one of the most fascinating models from CMC.
